PARKLEA VISITS INFORMATION

Management & Training Corporation Pty Ltd operates Parklea Correctional Centre on behalf of Corrective Services NSW.

To book a visit, you must be registered and have a Visitor Identification Number (VIN). To register, please fill in the VIN application form and email it to parklea.visits@mtctrains.com.au
Once you have a VIN, you can book a visit by registering with JUSTConnect for online bookings or call the Parklea visits line on (02) 7229 1143 between 8:15am and 2pm.

Visits must be booked 24 hours in advance.

The information below will help you prepare for your visit to the centre. General VISITS INFORMATION

How many people can visit at any one time?

Up to four people can visit at any one time. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bring original identification. Digital ID is now accepted.

Visiting hours are:

  • Maximum Security Area: Monday, and Wednesday to Sunday. There are morning and afternoon visits. Please contact the Visits line for available times based on the area of the inmate your are visiting.
  • Minimum Security Area: Saturday and Sunday, 8:45am 10:00am 12:15pm 13:45pm.
  • All visits must be booked 24 hours in advance.
  • Inmates are allowed one visit during the week and one on the Weekend.

CSNSW and MTC Australia recognise the importance of maintaining a connection between people in custody and their loved ones, and are piloting video visits.

Video visits are not available to all areas. Please contact the Visitors Booking Line 02 7229 1143 for further information.

Arrive at the Centre 40 minutes prior to your scheduled visit commencement time.

You will need this time to complete security and identity checks prior to entering the visit area.

Bring original identification.

 

Digital identification is now accepted.

If you have visited the Centre before and you have a visitor identification number (VIN), you can access the Centre by presenting one primary or one secondary form of ID (see the lists below).

If you have not visited the Centre before, you must present one primary form of ID. We will accept any of the below:

  • A current photo driver’s licence issued by any State or Territory of Australia
  • A Proof of Age card from Service NSW
  • A current passport or one that has expired within two years as well as two more documents ( Medicare card, Bank card, pension card and proof of address)
  • Any current photo identification issued by a Government Department or Authority.

 

 

If you do not have a primary form of ID, you will need to present three secondary forms of IDs. We will only accept the following:

  • Original or extract of a birth certificate
  • Electoral roll enrolment card or other evidence of enrolment
  • Public utility record issued within six months of the date of intended visit e.g. a telephone, gas or electricity bill, water rates, council rates or land valuation notice
  • Current vehicle or boat registration papers
  • Marriage certificate
  • Australian naturalisation, or citizenship document or immigration papers issued by the Commonwealth
  • Current entitlement card issued by an Australian Federal or State Government Department or Authority
  • Credit or debit card with the holder’s signature

 

Adhere to the dress code.

 

The following items will not be accepted, and may result in your visit being terminated:

  • See-through clothing
  • Singlets, tank tops or crop tops
  • Inappropriate language or graphics on any piece of clothing or item worn or carried into the Centre
  • Logos or symbols associated with drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol or gangs
  • Ripped or torn items
  • Caps or hoodies
  • Skirts and shorts must be no shorter than knee length
  • Footwear must be enclosed
  • Steel capped boots
  • Piercings or jewellery limited to a set of studs or sleeper earrings and plain wedding band or engagement ring (no rings with jewels or stones)
  • Watches, activity trackers or smart watches
  • Sunglasses
  • Zimmer frames, wheelchairs, walking sticks and crutches are permitted access, but they will be subjected to search
  • Religious head coverings are permitted. However, you may be asked to remove the head covering for identification purposes. This will be performed in the most culturally respectful, sensitive and appropriate way possiblE.

Don’t worry. Although it can be stressful to visit a correctional facility the first time, ensuring that everyone has positive, safe and secure visits is our priority. Having family and friends visit provides critical support to an inmate’s wellbeing, and helps make positive changes in their lives.

Legal VISItor INFORMATIOn

Legal visitors are requested to make bookings. We will accommodate walk-up legal visitors where possible, but bookings recommended. For accommodation on the following day please send your request no later than 3pm the day prior.

The Centre has two audio-visual link (AVL) suites that can be booked any time for consultations with legal services. To book an AVL suite, email parklea.avl@mtctrains.com.au

Face-to-face legal visits can be booked by contacting the Centre via email at parklea.legalvisits@mtctrains.com.au

Legal visitors are requested to make bookings. We will accommodate walk-up legal visitors as flexibly as possible, but bookings are recommended. For accommodation on the following day, whenever possible please send your request by 3pm the day prior to your requested visit.

Legal visits are accommodated 7 days per week, 9am to 11am and 12:30pm to 3pm.

Processing for legal visitors will occur at the visits Centre and will begin at 8:30am for the morning session, and 12:30pm for the afternoon session. Extended visits can also be requested and will be accommodated to where possible.

The location of the visit inside the Centre will vary based on the day, time and designation of the inmate, you will be notified of the location when you book. If you need to know the location of the visit before choosing a booking date, but you don’t know the designation of the inmate, contact our Legal Visits staff.

Legal Visitors are required to present an appropriate form of identification, including official government photo identification and one of the following:

  • Current Law Society identification card
  • Current Bar Association identification card
  • Current Legal Aid identification card

If you would like to bring any equipment other than a pen, writing paper and lever arch folders into the Centre, you must seek approval. Requests should be emailed no less than 48 hours in advance of the visit to parklea.legalvisits@mtctrains.com.au

Examples of equipment which will require approval prior to entering the Centre include personal papers, laptops, voice recording devices and removable storage devices.

No phones, smartwatches, fitbits or similar devices are permitted to enter the Centre at any time.

No equipment is to be left with the inmate.

We will allocate you an area that allows for confidentiality between you and your client.

Bring identification. Copies, or certified copies will not be accepted.

Do not bring in any prohibited items.

You will not be allowed to enter the Centre with prohibited items, including phones, laptops, voice recording devices, and removable storage devices. See ‘What equipment can be brought in’ above.
