Providing support to former inmates to reduce reoffending

Throughcare is an innovative reintegration program created by Management & Training Corporation Pty Ltd, and is a key element of our reducing reoffending strategy.

The Throughcare program was launched at Parklea Correctional Centre in Western Sydney on 1 July, 2021 to support inmates once they leave the prison.

The program is free for inmates who are due to be released from prison and need help with finding accommodation, housing, employment, counselling and other support.

It’s designed to ensure they are set up with the necessary infrastructure and services before they re-enter the community to reduce their risk of reoffending and returning to prison.

Inmates are assigned a Throughcare Co-ordinator shortly before their release date who works with them and community organisations to develop a tailored release plan to ensure they have the best opportunity to successfully reintegrate into the community.

Their Throughcare Co-ordinator then regularly follows up with the inmate for up to three months after release to ensure they are on track and are coping with their new life outside prison.
