To help families doing it tough in the Blacktown community, Parklea staff held a food drive for local charity Carevan to help provide some Christmas cheer.
We recently partnered with Carevan by providing vegetables grown by our inmates and the horticultural team for the families who attend their food service at Lalor Park Community Hall every Tuesday night.
Attendees receive hot, nutritious meals as well as groceries to take home.
They also provide families with a Christmas hamper each year, and Parklea staff were keen to help by donating non-perishable food items, such as long-life milk, rice, pasta, baked beans, pasta sauce and festive treats.
We also donated wooden toys our inmates had made in the cabinet shop for the children.
